Community Día de los Muertos Altar
Join us in honoring our loved ones and celebrating life!
We’re excited to invite our members, guests, and staff to participate in our first-ever Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Community Altar. This altar, known as an ofrenda, is a beautiful and meaningful way to honor those who have passed while celebrating the joy of life.
What is Día de los Muertos?
Día de los Muertos is a traditional Mexican holiday celebrated on November 1st and 2nd. It’s a time to honor deceased loved ones by creating altars, decorating graves, and sharing stories. Far from a time of mourning, Día de los Muertos is a celebration of life, family, and memory. The belief is that during this time, the spirits of the departed return to the world of the living to be with their families. Instead of fearing death, Día de los Muertos embraces it as a natural part of life, filled with joy, memory, and connection.
How to Participate:
We invite our Session community to contribute items to the altar, such as:
- Photos of your loved ones
- Letters or poems written to them
- Small mementos that represent their life or hobbies
- Flowers (real or paper) or other traditional decorations
